CX Local Elite Program
2026 Comp Edge Local Elite Cyclocross Program
Program Mission
The Comp Edge Local Elite program is designed to bolster the New England cyclocross community by supporting high-level junior athletes. We aim to provide a professional environment for up-and-coming talent.
1. Athlete Eligibility & Requirements
We are looking for Cat 1/2 racers, UCI Juniors, and Cat 3 athletes showing significant upward progression.
Regional Focus: Applicants must reside in the New England region (including New York).
Mandatory Events: * Attendance at the CER Gravel Fundraiser.
Attendance at 3 of the 4 following UCI weekends: Rochester, Really Rad, NoHo, or Charm City.
A minimum of 6 additional New England-based races.
Community Presence: Riders are encouraged to lead by example at local practices, Monday night group rides, and the Vanished Valley race series.
Post-Season: Participation in the USAC National Championships is highly encouraged.
2. Technical & Equipment Standards (Sponsor Correctness)
To maintain our professional partnerships and team aesthetic, equipment standards are non-negotiable:
Sponsor Correct Bikes: All team members must race on a sponsor-correct platform: Trek Boone framesets, Shimano drivetrains, Rotation Engineering Components and Challenge Tires. We understand this is a big commitment so please make sure you and your parents are aware of this prior applying.
Purchasing: All primary race bikes must be purchased through Competitive Edge Ski and Bike..
Uniformity: Riders must compete in the official 2026 Competitive Edge Racing (CER) kit for all CX events.
3. Financial Responsibility & "Store Credit" Program
Annual Team Fee: There is a $1,000 team fee due upon program acceptance.
Store Credit System: This fee is non-refundable but is immediately credited back to the rider as store credit at Competitive Edge. This credit is designed to facilitate the purchase of your season equipment, parts, and maintenance supplies during the season and expires on 12/31.
Travel & Logistics: Riders are responsible for their own lodging, travel, and entry fees.
4. Program Benefits
Selected athletes will receive a comprehensive support package:
Official Team Issue Gear: 2 kits, 1 long-sleeve skinsuit, 1 jacket, 1 pair of shoes, 1 helmet, and 1 pair of sunglasses.
Exclusive Pricing: * Deep discounts on up to two CX race bikes (must be purchased at Team Night).
Up to 25% off additional bikes.
20% discount on all bike-related purchases from the shop.
Race Day Support:
Access to the Club Tent Space at select local races.
Emergency mechanical support at main team-supported events (Note: Routine maintenance is the rider's responsibility).
Advancement Opportunities: At the Team Director’s discretion, riders may receive invitations to additional UCI weekends with full CER Elite support or opportunities for European race trips.
Mentorship & Performance Education:
Exclusive Team Briefings: Monthly conference calls with Elite Team riders and coaches to discuss race strategy, course conditions, and technical advice throughout the season.
Structured Field Work: Access to organized team group rides and dedicated skills sessions (starts, barriers, cornering, and off-cambers) led by veteran CER athletes.
5. Support & Pit Protocol
While the team provides a hub at races, "Local Elite" status implies a level of self-sufficiency:
In-Race Support: Riders are required to provide their own pit crew/support for bike exchanges during races.
Maintenance: Beyond emergency race-day repairs, athletes are expected to manage the daily upkeep of their equipment.
